Kaye uses Dream Batting in white or natural, 100% cotton or 80/20 blend. You are free to provide your own batting if you choose.
Yes, however Kaye recommends against it.
Yes, but I only use a simple meandering stitch pattern. I cannot quilt if there are buttons, collars, or any embellishments that stand up on the quilt top.
The backing is best from wide backing fabric. If pieced, it's best with only one horizontal seam. If there are more seams, they should be horizontal.
I use OMNI thread as it works best on the machine.
Yes, Kaye can create the backing of the quilt from fabric you provide. The
cost is $12 per seam.
Return times depend on the number of quilts ahead of yours. Times vary based on queue volume and any quick turnaround deadlines. There's an additional $40 charge for a 10-day turnaround from the date we receive the quilt to when it's mailed or handed over to you in person.
Kaye offers quilt trimming and binding services upon request only. She uses 2 1/2' wide binding, folded in half and machine-sewn to the top of the quilt, then hand-sewn to finish on the back. Flat rate of $30 for baby to twin size, $40 for queen and king sizes.
To estimate the price of the quilt you will find the area of your quilt and multiply it for the rate.
Width x Length = Area
Area x Rate = Cost of Quilt
For example, if your quilt top is 72" wide and 84" long, you would do the following equation:
72 in x 84 in = 6,048 sq in
6,048 sq in x .0225 = $136.08
Yes, if you don't have a local longarm quilter, you can mail your top and backing fabric to Kaye. She pays for return shipping to you; you pay to mail everything to her. Kaye will then work with you virtually to choose your quilting pattern and thread color. USPS Priority Mail will be used to return the quilt to you.
